Paving, Overlay Begin

Road crews were hard at work in areas throughout the city Wednesday as it began a six to eight month street paving and patching project.

"It's going to eliminate all these potholes all these people have been calling about," said city inspector Glenn George.

The paving project will overlay 46 miles of city streets. One project targeted the road in front of Oakland Heights Elementary School.

"It won't change gas prices, but it will make the streets a little bit safer," said Stan Carpenter, a member of the public works crew.
