A group of veterans on motorcycles stopped over in Meridian Monday night on their way to Washington, D.C.
It's part of the ''Run for the Wall'' annual event to promote awareness of military service members who died in war and for those still missing in action.
The bikers were escorted by the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Meridian Police.
"This is our 16th year to put the run on. This is only our fourth year to come through the southern run," said south route coordinator, John Gebhards. "We have a central route that essentially takes highways 70, 64, into Virginia. Now we have a southern run, which is essentially interstates 10, 20 up and then we'll pickup 81 going into Virginia."
Most of the bikers are veterans. Some are just interested participants. They'll all be part of ''Operation Rolling Thunder'' Sunday in the nation's Capitol.
