More Arrests in Shooting

The shooting happened at the Oak Tree Lounge in Coatopa, Ala. Jesse Bell, a part owner of the club, was rushed as he was closing up in the early morning hours Sunday. Officials say the keys to his truck were taken. Bell was assaulted and robbed of an undetermined amount of cash and then shot him as he tried to run back into the club.

Willie Bell Allen, 26, of Jefferson, Ala, Jesse James Shepard, 24, Michelle Lacetta Shepard, 26; and Shimego Howell, 22, all of Demopolis, were placed in the Sumter County Jail.

Allen and Jesse Shepard are being held on $25,000 bond on charges of robbery in the first degree and assault in the first degree. Howell and Michelle Shepard are each being held on $15,000 bond on charges of robbery in the first degree.

Investigators say they determined that several people were involved in the planning and execution of the crime.

The case remains under investigation. Sumter County Sheriff Johnny Hatter says more charges and arrests are possible.
