Lauderdale County supervisors have hired a new county administrator. Longtime administrator Rex Hiatt is retiring June 30.
Tony Green, an assistant state auditor who has been checking Lauderdale County's books as part of his state duties, will fill the position.
"I've always been affiliated and associated with this board or this county and these county officials," said Green. "It's just a county that's been close to my heart. We enjoyed working here and I'm really excited about the new opportunities."
Green, who is originally from Jasper County, will be paid $67,500 plus benefits. Hiatt, a veteran in the job, was making $82,000.
