East Mississippi Community College in Scooba has named Dr. Rick Young, a vice- president at the Golden Triangle campus in Mayhew, to be its new president.
Young has been with EMCC as a senior level administrator for 23 years.
"Dr. Young's known commitment and service to EMCC has enhanced educational opportunities on the Golden Triangle Campus for 30 years," said Linda Jackson, board chair.
As vice-president, Young oversaw the overall operations of the Golden Triangle campus.
"I am humbled and excited to have the privilege to with East Mississippi Community College in this new capacity," said Young.
Young and his wife, Melinda, will move to Scooba in July.
The college is hosting a retirement celebration for outgoing president Dr. Tommy Davis, Saturday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Keyes-Currie Coliseum.
Davis retires at the end of June with 49 years in education. The public is invited to attend.
