Governor Ronnie Musgrove is calling for a special session of the
Mississippi Legislature for Thursday, Sept. 5, to deal with funding
for the state Department of Corrections.
"Once the corrections issue is resolved and on its way to my desk
for my signature, I will expand the call of the session to address the availability and affordability of medical malpractice insurance," said Musgrove.
In May, the governor said he would call lawmakers back to address
that issue by the end of the summer.
Musgrove said after the medical malpractice crisis has been resolved,
he will make civil justice reform a part of the debate during the special session.
