Lauderdale County Murder

Updated: Mon 11:26 AM, Aug 26, 2002

When Lauderdale County investigators arrived at the home of Stanley Lyles on Sneed Road late Friday night, they discovered the worst. Lyles was discovered dead, the apparent victim of a robbery and murder. He'd apparently been dead for several days.

Investigators were acting on the tip of the Kentucky State Police. They were investigating an accident involving two men driving Lyle's truck. The two men, 20-year-old Eric Michael Thomas, and 18-year-old Johnathan Richard Davis were taken into custody in Kentucky, and they've been charged with capital murder. They are now awaiting extradition to Lauderdale County.

The state crime lab has been called in to help investigate the crime, as they comb the scene and surrounding area for clues. A third person, Rosemary Para, is being sought for questioning in the case. Calhoun says help from the community is still very important.

If you have any information regarding the case, you're asked to call Crimestoppers. That number is 917-8888.
