The Golden Moon Casino cost almost $300 million, will employ more than 2000 people, and is expected to bring thousands of tourists and millions of dollars to the Pearl River Resort.
The Golden Moon is the latest and biggest addition to the resort. In addition the first casino there, the Silver Star, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians have also built the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course, Geyser Falls Water Theme Park, and are in the process of building Pushmataha Lake.
The casino is named for its unique design, one its architect says is like nothing else he's ever done or seen. The facility will feature 843,000 square feet with 571 hotel rooms on its 28 floors. It will also include 9,000 square feet of gambling space with 56 tables and 1,750 slot machines. It was a gigantic project, but Tribal officials say it will be worth it when even more people start visiting the resort.
The official opening for the Golden Moon is set for 11 a.m. Monday morning
