The Meridian Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery at the Holiday Inn Express around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect was described as a black male, who entered the hotel with a shotgun and demanded money.

Police report the clerk fled the office and the robber ran off without any money.

"The black male was wearing a toboggan, a sweater with gray patches, and a surgical mask on his face to cover his identity," said MPD spokesman Dean Harper. "He would be charged with attempted armed robbery, if we are able to identify the subject."

If you have any information concerning the incident, call Crimestoppers at 485-1860.
