Meridian Picnic Is Here

Meridianites from all over the country have come back home.

They are in Meridian for the National Council of Meridianites' 38th annual convention and picnic.

Five hundred people have already registered for the event that's held in Meridian every five years.

Organizers say there will be a lot in store for the entire weekend.

"Today we have a meeting and greeting, people are making preparations for the activities going on throughout the weekend," said convention co-chair Irene Wade.

Registration for the event will run through Saturday. Festivities will begin Thursday night with an awards program at the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge.
