The government has announced that 100 million flu shots will be distributed this year. This is not counting the 4.5 million doses of the shot for children.
Last year the epidemic peaked early during flu season. Of the 152 children who died from the flu last year, CDC officials say about 70 percent of them had not had the flu shots.
Flu season is roughly from October until April. Flu shots will be available this fall.
