Riley to Tap Main

Gov. Bob Riley isn't scheduled to make an official announcement until Tuesday, but he indicated to reporters Monday that Montgomery attorney Jim Main would be his new state finance director.

Drayton Nabers formerly served in the position but was recently appointed to be chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.

The state finance director is the chief financial officer for the Riley administration, with duties including developing state budgets.

The 59-year-old Main is no stranger to state politics. He served as executive secretary to former Governor Fob James from 1997 until 1999 and then joined Riley's Cabinet as senior counsel in April 2003.
