SAT Scores Released

The College Board Tuesday released the overall results of the 2002 SAT tests.

College Board President Gaston Caperton told a Washington news conference that math scores were up slightly, but verbal scores declined.

Overall, average scores stood at 1020, the same as last year.

"Students are taking more difficult math courses, not taking less stringent or difficult English courses," said Caperton. "And that the better the curriculum, the better people do on the SAT."

One point three million college-bound students took the SAT this year.
