Work is set to begin later this week on a brand new hospital for Kemper County.
The former facility closed years ago.
A groundbreaking ceremony is set for Thursday for the brand new John c. Stennis Memorial Hospital in DeKalb.
The hospital will be owned and operated by Rush Health Systems.
The Mississippi Department of Health issued a certificate of need for the hospital in 2009. Its construction was approved by the state legislature in 2007.
