Arrest Made in Weekend Death

Dennis Grady of Preston has been charged with aggravated assault in the stabbing death of Danny Rush, 24, of DeKalb.

"On Aug. 1, 2004, about 2:55 in the morning the Sheriff's Department received a call of a stabbing on Bloomfield Road," said Mike Carrithers, an investigator with the Kemper County Sheriff's Department.

Carrithers said Rush was pronounced dead on the scene where he had been stabbed multiple times after an altercation.

"Three people were involved," said Carrithers. "Debra Cleamons, the subject's girlfriend, Dennis Grady and Gerline Brown. Rush and Cleamons have got children together, and three maybe four months ago, they were living together in Birmingham. She came back and he came and forcibly took her back to Birmingham against her will. We apprehended him and before he could be indicted by the grand jury the charges were dropped by the family."

Sherriff's Department officials say the two incidents are being treated as separate and unrelated. Neither of the two females have been charged as of yet, but officials say that could change as the investigation into the death continues.
