Meridian public schools' “Parents as Teachers” program Wednesday hosted a health fair.
In partnership with Greater Meridian Health Clinic, children and parents were offered diabetes and blood pressure checks, and childhood immunizations free-of-charge.
"Immunizations are very, very important and we just want the public to be aware and parents to be aware to update your children's shots each year," said Gretchen Luvene, coordinator of the Parents as Teachers Program.
Luvene said children first entering school have to show proof of immunization against childhood diseases.
