War On Mosquitoes

Lauderdale County supervisors will consider taking another step in the fight against West Nile virus at a meeting Tuesday.

LEMA Director Clarence Butler say spraying kills the adult mosquitoes but they want to destroy the larvae as well.

"The larvae is a major problem and we're going to discuss Tuesday of buying a chemical that would help to kill these larvae in standing water," said Butler. "You put it in the water and it dissolves and makes a kill then."

Meanwhile, Friday night's spraying will be east of 29th Avenue and north of Front Street and south of 20th Street in town. And in the Whynot and NAS Meridian areas of the county.
