Scott County authorities are searching for suspects in what they are calling a crime of passion. It happened around 11:30 p.m. May 3 in the Brusha community northeast of Forest.
Investigators say Larzentia Moppins was shot more than a half dozen times when three people stormed into his house and gunned him down.
Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said, "We're looking for three individuals who at the time were concealing their identities with bandannas or masks, and that is according to the witness. We're covering so many rumors and things like that, so we are definitely wanting the public to come in and give us anything that they've got because we're covering things like that."
Investigators believe Moppins knew the suspects. After they broke into the house Moppins ran into a room. That's when investigators say the suspects shot him through the door. At the time, three children were at the house. None of them were hurt.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Scott County Sheriff's Department at (601) 469-1511.
