Thirty-four-year-old Johnny Daniels is charged with arson. Investigators say around 9 p.m. Saturday night, Daniels set his family's house on fire. No one was hurt.
Sumter County Sheriff Johnny Hatter says he believes investigators have discovered the motive.
"He wanted money, probably for drugs. He asked for money and the mother told him she didn't have any money and that's when he got into an argument. The next thing you know he got into a struggle and later on that night he set the house on fire and neighbors and friends were able to get the fire under control and the Fire Department came in and finished putting the fire out."
Daniels is now being held in the Sumter County jail. At last check bond had not been set.
