Speaking Up

Some property owners in Lauderdale County could see some tax relief.

The property owners had objected to the value at which their properties had been appraised.

The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors heard the recommendations of the tax assessor's office at a public hearing. Some of the property values were lowered.

"This is a process that we go through every single year. It's set out by law and the board takes action as they do every year," said tax assessor Jimmy Slay.

The change in value could mean fewer taxes for the property owners, depending on where millage is set.
