Another candidate has announced his candidacy for the district four seat in Lauderdale County. Tuesday 43-year-old Joe Norwood announced he would run for the position.
Four years ago Norwood ran for the office and lost by 11 votes to then incumbent, Q.V. Sykes. He says his platform is to provide more affordable housing.
"Of course, you know district four in Lauderdale County has the largest number of public housing units in the city and those lots can be transformed into descent areas for people to live," said Norwood.
Norwood is the chief photographer at WTOK.
So far, two other candidates have qualified to run for the position, county patrolman Ricky Harris and retired hospital employee Melvin Wright.
The general election will be held Nov. 5.
