A team from the Ronnie Shows campaign spent the day shaking hands and talking with voters in Meridian. The congressman's wife, Johnnie Ruth Shows, led the group. She said volunteers will spend the next two months talking one-on-one with people in the new third district.
"They're looking for somebody that's honest, that you can believe what they say tomorrow as well as today," said Mrs. Shows. "They've said it. I think that's what they're seeing in Ronnie Shows. Because he truly believes in what he's doing. He believes in his people and he's truly concerned about their hurts and their needs."
Shows said she likes to share her husband's background as a teacher and farmer. Congressmen Ronnie Shows and Chip Pickering are running in the same district because Mississippi lost a seat in congress.
