Some area students spent part of the day checking out the job market.

High school and college students in allied health fields attended rush hospital's sixth annual career care event. Officials say there are many opportunities in health care.

"We want these young folks to know that they don't have to leave Meridian to get a good job," said Rush director of nursing, David Bonner. "They can get a good education right here locally and come to work at a facility like ours. A host of different jobs and different careers."

Bonner said over 500 students visited career care. He said there's a need for lab and medical technology professionals, in addition to doctors and nurses.
