The events of Sept. 11, 2001, will be observed in Meridian with a special ceremony next Wednesday at the Central Fire Station. Fire Chief Bunky Partridge outlined the plans.

"Approximately 9:05 a.m., we will have the bells tolling three times of five each," said Partridge. "That is to represent when the tower fell at 9:06 a.m. Then we have the bagpipes right after that. Also we have prayers offered up. And then at 9:26 a.m., we'll have an additional tolling of the bells and that's when the second tower fell and then we'll dismiss."

Partridge says the public is invited and he hopes many people will attend.
