The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department has begun a new program of providing security at the Meridian Airport.
Sheriff Billy Sollie outlined the plan to the supervisors Thursday.
"As it stands now, we'll be monitoring three flights; one departing at 6:00 a.m., another at 1:55 p.m. and the other one's going to be at 6:10 p.m. Only three flights we're responsible for," said Sheriff Sollie.
The Federal Transportation Security Administration will continue to search the passengers and the luggage.
The Sheriff's Department will supply a law enforcement presence with the TSA paying the costs of having uniformed officers at the terminal.
