A program that helps young people learn the game of golf and the lessons that go with it received a donation Monday.
AT&T gave $1,000 to First Tee of Meridian. The organization teaches children, ages 5 through 17, how to play golf.
But it uses the concepts to also teach core values, like honesty and integrity.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to support the youth of this community," said C.D. Smith, regional manager for AT&T. "And the ideals that are displayed through the efforts of First Tee, we think are in line with growing the youth of tomorrow, and it's really a great opportunity to support the community."
"We'll be using these funds to encourage students to come in and participate in our program," said Robert Ford, president of First Tee. "We teach the life skills and we use the life skills and also teach them the game of golf, which they can play for a lifetime."
