Montgomery, Ala. Anti-abortion activists are demonstrating outside abortion clinics in five Alabama cities as part of an international protest effort.
Al.com reports the "40 Days for Life" campaign began Wednesday and is set to run through Nov. 3. It includes demonstrations outside clinics in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Montgomery.
Al.com reports anti-abortion activists have won some recent victories.
The Birmingham clinic once bombed by Eric Rudoph was shut down officially by the state last month. And state statistics showed a 5 percent decline in abortions from 2012 to 2011.
Gov. Robert Bentley also signed into law a bill that requires medication disclosures and sets stricter building requirements for abortion clinics, including wider halls and doors and better fire suppression systems.
