Alabama Legislative Session Starts Tuesday

Montgomery, Ala.

The Alabama Legislature is back in Montgomery for a three-month session that will lead into this year's elections.

Gov. Robert Bentley will outline his proposals in his televised State of the State address at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Capitol.

The new session is getting off to a faster-than-normal start. The House and Senate usually meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

But legislative leaders say they plan to meet three days a week for the first two weeks and then do it several more times later in the session in hopes of getting their work done by early April.

The legislative session would normally end in late April. That will get incumbents home to campaign for the primary election June 3.
