Alabama Football Team Involved in Bus Crash

Selma, Ala. Concordia College assistant football coach Reginald Lumpkin says none of his players were injured when their team bus blew a tire and caught fire.

Lumpkin tells the Selma Times-Journal the team was on its way to a game against Miles College Saturday when a tire blew out on Alabama Highway 219, north of Selma.

Patrick Essex, of the East Perry Volunteer Fire Department, told the newspaper a fire began on the rear driver's side of the bus, which was destroyed by the blaze.

Lumpkin said no one on the bus was injured, but most of the equipment the bus was carrying was destroyed.

The team's game against Miles was canceled.
