Ammunition in Short Supply

Ammunition sales are through the roof and shelves are also pretty bare across Lauderdale County.

Local stores that sell ammunition have a shortage at this time due to more civilians people buying ammunition.

Sheriff Billy Sollie says people are concerned about new gun control legislation that has been proposed by President Obama. And it's also affecting law enforcement.

"With the current mindset, the nation's ammunition is becoming extremely rare," said Sollie. "I was in a Wal-Mart today and the ammunition shelves were almost bare. Law enforcement needs ammunition to practice with, to make sure they can protect the citizens. This is a growing concern nationwide of the lack of ammunition for law enforcement."

Store owners say, at this time, they are waiting for more shipments of ammunition to arrive.
