Anderson Achieves Certification

Meridian, Miss. Anderson Regional Medical Center has been designated one of only eight accredited chest pain centers with Percutaneous coronary intervention, commonly known as coronary angioplasty, in Mississippi.

The accreditation came through the the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.

The hospital says it's using nationally certified methods to provide the best care.

"It allows us to work through all of the communication issues between divisions and departments and get EMS involved in trying to see that we can give appropriate care as effectively and as quickly as we can," said staff cardiologist, Dr. Wes Bennett.

More people die from heart attacks each year than any other disease.

Anderson has a goal of getting heart attacks treated within 90 minutes of symptoms beginning and wants to lower response time even more.
