Anderson Hospital Storm Ready

Meridian, Miss.
Anderson Regional Medical Center has been recognized as one of only 10 percent of hospitals in the state that are Storm Ready supporter hospitals.

It was recognized for its ability to prepare and face severe weather, to receive and spread communication, and also respond in times of severe weather.

Officials from the National Weather Service and the Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency presented the designation.

"It means that we are much more comfortable. We are much more educated in terms of how to deal with those disasters when they come," said CEO Ray Humphreys. "It's so important for a hospital system to be on standby and know what to do when it occurs."

Officials with the National Weather Service say the hospital is doing what it takes to keep its patients, employees and visitors safe.
