Meridian, Miss. Anderson Regional Medical Center Tuesday saluted the role volunteers play in patient care.
The hospital hosts a luncheon for this purpose during National Volunteer Appreciation Week.
Forty-seven volunteers are currently active, ranging from one month of service to 33 years.
Anderson volunteers last year contributed 6200 hours.
"They are just wonderful people," said volunteer coordinator Tiffney Spence. "They help us. They are just wonderful and nourishing to our patients and to our patients' loved one."
"My grandmother told me, what you have, you're supposed to give back in relation to what you have," said Dorothy Hogan, a volunteer since 1996. "So all my life I've tried to do that. But I've really gotten more out of it."
Hogan says the volunteers go 'all out' because the hospital goes 'all out' for them.
