Meridian, Miss. Well 100 people attended the third annual Lauderdale County "Bark for Life" event. The event held at the Lauderdale County Agriculture Center welcomed the attendees with numerous events to partake in or just sit and enjoy. It was a day filled with socializing, dog tricks, and raising money for a good cause as one man in attendance said.

First time attendee Butch Shannon said, "I think research is all dependent on money and it's an excellent way to raise local money through contributions through all that they are offering here today."

Whether people in attendance watched dogs do tricks, participate in the silent auction, or the pony rides, there was fun had for everyone. Numerous breeds of dogs were found wondering around the agriculture center taking in the sights of other dogs coming to raise money for a good cause.

"We've had a great day today," said Dr. Misty McNeil. "We've had over 100 dogs that were present out here for "Bark for Life" and been able to raise a lot of money. That will go great to raising money for the cancer society."

The sponsors of the event said they are very pleased to have a community that is willing to come together for a good cause and have fun at the same time.

"It's a fun way to get to raise money for the American Cancer Society," said Dr. McNeil. "It goes to a good cause, but it's also a fun day, so it's a win-win for everyone.

The event was two hours, with the silent auction winners concluding the last 15 minutes of "Bark for Life". The silent auction seemed to be the biggest hit with a variety of items donated from several local businesses. All proceeds from every event went to support the American Cancer Society.
