Meridian, Miss. Local youth gathered Friday night to show off their best talent to the community.
Young people between the ages of 14 and 21 performed in the Dare to Dream Talent Show at the Frank Cochran Center in Meridian on Friday. Most contestants chose to sing, though one contestant did recite a poem. Several local agencies partnered as part of an effort to inspire young people in the community.
"Everything about it is exciting," according to Toni Nettles with NFusion X. "We have some talent scouts coming, so for some of our youth, this could be their big break. We have cash prizes, the first prize winner will get five hundred dollars. And just really get their name out there."
Meridian Mayor Percy Bland and city councilman Dustin Markham were in attendance for the event.
