Clarke County, Miss. Investigators have identified the body found in Clarke County as 28 year old Cierra Sims of Meridian.
In addition to identifying the young lady, a preliminary autopsy report shows that she was strangled and beaten to death sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. Investigators worked through the night Wednesday and into Thursday morning before making an arrest.
"His name is Rodney Johnson from Wayne County," Sheriff Todd Kemp says. "He was the boy friend. Mr. Johnson was the last person to have seen Miss Sims alive. He is in custody and investigators are pursuing leads at this time. Hopefully we will have this case solved by this afternoon or into tomorrow."
Her body was found in northern Clarke County by a mother and her children Wednesday afternoon and investigators have been working around the clock since then. With the investigation still ongoing, Kemp says that if you have any information to please call no matter how big or small it may seem.
"It may not seem big to some people but it may mean something real large to us," Kemp stresses. "So please contact us with any information that you do have involving the death of Miss Cierra Sims the tragic end to a young lady's life."
