Lauderdale County, Miss. A high speed chase in Lauderdale County Tuesday afternoon ended with four people being taken into custody.
Agents with the East Mississippi Drug Task Force initiated a traffic stop near Crescent Lake Road. The vehicle's driver refused to stop and the chase began.
The vehicle entered into northern Clarke County before turning back to Lauderdale County. It finally stopped near Spring Hill Loop on Highway 45, and law enforcement took the occupants into custody.
"There are several variables that deputies have to take into consideration whenever a pursuit is initiated or continued," said Calhoun. "In this particular case, thankfully, they were able to stop the vehicle. The driver decided to make that decision to stop a couple of miles past where some items were thrown out of the vehicle that we believe will be of evidentiary value."
Calhoun says the occupants in the car will be charged accordingly.
