"Artinis at the Museum" Generates Fun and Funding

Meridian, Mississippi It was a big night at Meridian's Museum of Art. Members of the community turned out for "Artinis at the Museum", an annual fundraiser that combines a little culture and cocktails to bring in dollars for the museum. Local artists created 8 x 8 works and donated them for a silent auction. Director Kate Cherry says it's a fun way to get local community members engaged with the Museum, and raise operational funds as well. "Its mostly local artists who have donated their work tonight," said Cherry. "We're just so privileged to have about 65 works from the artists. The community supports us so well, we have five sponsors for the event. It's just going to be an incredible night. We're going to have a lot of fun, and we're going to raise a lot of money."

Cherry says Summer art classes are still available for children, and the People's Choice Art Competition is underway through July 26th at the Museum.
