Attempted Burglary Leads to Chase

Meridian, Miss. Meridian and Lauderdale County authorities spent Thursday evening looking for a man accused of an attempted burglary.

Detective Dareall Thompson says it all started about 8:00 in the 2600 block of South Frontage Road. Thompson says a security guard at a business spotted a strange vehicle. That vehicle quickly left the scene and both Meridian police officers and Lauderdale County sheriff's deputies began chasing the suspect.

Thompson says the suspect left his vehicle on the Highway 45 off-ramp in the Marion area. The suspect ran in a wooded area and K-9's joined the search. As of 10 p.m. Thursday, the suspect was still at large.
