Baby Monitor Helps Catch Burglar

Loxley, Ala.
An Alabama man got creative after being targeted by a burglar multiple times.

Chad Stapleton told WKRG-TV that his business was broken into three times in the past few weeks.

So he decided to set up a baby monitor to catch whoever was responsible. And on July 18 it paid off.

Early in the morning, Stapleton and his wife heard noise on the monitor receiver and called police.

"They were proactive in protecting their property and set up this makeshift alarm system, which alerted us, and we were able to respond in a fashion that afforded us the opportunity to get the bad guy for them," said Lt. Doug Phillips of the Loxley Police Dept.

Police arrived just as the suspect was leaving. After a high-speed chase, officers arrested the man who is now facing multiple charges.
