Meridian Mayor Cheri Barry made her plans to seek a second term in office official Tuesday.
Barry held a campaign kickoff announcement in front of a crowd at the Dentzel Carousel at Highland Park.
Barry says her experience on the job over the last four years gives her the qualifications needed to lead the city for another term.
"I have the experience and the knowledge to take Meridian to the next level and to be the mayor for the next four years," said Barry. "I'm so very proud of this community and the direction we're going in as one community."
Gov. Phil Bryant endorsed Barry for reelection.
Democrats Rod Amos and Percy Bland have also announced plans to run for mayor.
Barry defeated Bland in a close general election race in 2009.
