Birmingham, Ala. Police say a 5-year-old girl has been stabilized and is expected to survive after she was shot at an apartment in Birmingham.
Al.com reports the girl was rushed to a hospital after police found her wounded at about 11 p.m. Friday. Birmingham police Lt. Scott Thurmond said Saturday a gun was fired as part of an altercation and the young girl "was an innocent bystander" who got wounded.
The girl was taken to Children's of Alabama hospital. Thurmond says her condition was stable Saturday and doctors expect her to live.
Police have not identified any suspects in the shooting.
