People at the Lauderdale County Courthouse got quite a scare Friday morning, but it turned out to be nothing serious.
People in the courthouse reported hearing a loud explosion that came from the basement just before noon Friday. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but found nothing out of the ordinary. After a brief investigation, officials discovered that a tire on a roll-around cart overheated and blew up.
"Like a shotgun went off man. It had me pull my pistol out. I was kind of nervous at first though, but you know, I'm a man, I handled it," said Jason Walker, who works as courthouse security.
Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson says Fix-a-Flat was found leaking near the tire, so that probably caused the explosion.
