A skeletal body was discovered inside a Chunky home on Highway 80 Wednesday.

Sheriff Jackie Knight says the body was sitting in a recliner, partially covered up as if the individual had gone to sleep.

Authorities say the home is registered to David Cahoon, who has not been seen in months. This caused some in the area to raise concerns about Cahoon's whereabouts. Knight says those concerns prompted him to search Cahoon's property several months ago.

"I went around the house, looked around the house," Sheriff Knight says. "I did not go in the house because I had no reason to break into the man's house. But I did go around the house to see if I could smell an odor or see if anything was out of place and I did not."

Both Sheriff Knight and residents in the area tell Newscenter 11 that Cahoon is not what they would call a people person, saying he is rarely ever seen except at night sometimes.

At this time, investigators say there is no evidence to confirm that the body found is Cahoon's.
