Bryant Issues Proclamation for Newtown Victims

A moment of silence will be observed in Mississippi and elsewhere Friday morning, in remembrance of the victims of the Newtown, Conn., tragedy.

Gov. Phil Bryant issued a proclamation for Dec. 21 at 9:30 a.m.

Bryant called on citizens to observe the moment of silence and asked that government buildings and places of worship which have the capability to ring bells 26 times.

Twenty-six students and staff of the Sandy Hook Elementary School died at the hand of Adam Lanza, who then took his own life.
