Mississippi's governor toured tornado damage in Kemper and Noxubee counties.
Gov. Phil Bryant was accompanied by Mississippi Emergency Management director Robert Lathem.
Bryant had already declared a state of emergency for both counties.
"We're very fortunate; it could have been much worse," said Bryant. "We're going to go out now and assess the damage and see what materials and supplies we might be able to bring in for mitigation purposes."
Officials with the National Weather Service say the tornado that struck Kemper and Noxubee was at minimum an EF3.
