Jackson, Mississippi C Spire Wireless says it's bringing faster Internet service to another 496,000 people across Mississippi.
Spokesman Dave Miller tells The Clarion-Ledger it will add 4G LTE service to 205 cell sites from August through November, increasing wireless data speeds up to 10 times beyond current 3G capability.
The company also plans to introduce the technology by the end of November in south Alabama and northwest Florida. C Spire and some of its competitors began the service last year in parts of Mississippi.
So far, about 2,700 square miles of C Spire's Mississippi area, including much of metro Jackson, has been upgraded to 4G.
At the same time, it's boosting rural towers from 2G to 3G speeds.
