Meridian, Miss. The board of directors of the Community Foundation of East Mississippi has fired its executive director, M'Lea Davis, amid an investigation.
According to a news release from the foundation, suspicious activity was discovered within the operating account in late January. Davis was terminated Feb. 11.
The board says that activity "pertained to transactions within the foundation's operating checking account and does not pertain to funds held by the foundation for the benefit of the various charitable entities it serves".
CFEM says an investigation is in process and relevant law enforcement agencies have been alerted.
Former board member, Mike Reich, has been tapped to serve as interim executive director to oversee daily functions of the foundation.
