Calvary Christian School in Meridian participated in a Veterans Day tribute Monday morning. It included lots of patriotic music from the elementary students, as well as a speech by a local Navy veteran.
School officials say it's important to honor veterans, and help students understand what they mean to our country.
"Some of them have given their lives and we have servicemen that are serving today in Afghanistan and in other areas in harm's way," said headmaster Curt Pouncey. "And we certainly pray for them every day and hopefully they'll come home safe."
The ceremony also included the recitation of a special Veterans Day prayer by the entire school.
