Meridian, Miss. On the eve of the Republican Primary runoff, both Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel made stops in Meridian.
McDaniel was at Jean’s Restaurant where he met with supporters and answered questions from any who asked.
Most questions had to do with some of the major issues like the Affordable Care Act. However, when asked about how Cochran is campaigning, McDaniel wasn't very happy.
"The Republicans do have to come together at some point, but the idea that they would reach out in the Republican Primary, after preaching cohesion and party unity all these years, the fact that they would reach out and get liberal Democrats to sway this vote towards liberalism, that concerns many of us conservatives," McDaniel says.
Meanwhile, just a few blocks away, Cochran was making phone calls to the voters to remind them to get out and vote Tuesday. Cochran said he believes that his experience will be the deciding factor in this election.
Cochran says, "I’ve been in there now for several terms and I’ve learned how to get things done for our state in Washington. I think that's an effective force that we can use to the benefit of all Mississippians."
Cochran has said in the past that he would support McDaniel, should McDaniel win the nomination on Tuesday. McDaniel was asked if he would support Cochran, if the incumbent wins.
"I’ll have to think about it, depending on what happens that evening. I'll let you know that evening," says McDaniel.
